It Smokes Really Bad
i finally got my 1996 txt gas running and now it smokes really bad i adjusted the valves maybe not good enough i have great compression and cleaned the carb i am clueless?

The only thing I can think of is your rings. If the grooves are lined up or the oil ring is stuck in.

i pulled the muffler off yesterday and started it and there was no oil comming out of the exhaust so i think it fixed its self so just need a new muffler of burn this one out

 Okay You have a 295 4 stroke ? The motor burns oil? It is probably the rings are worn ,.... what is the # on the compression test? Both cylinders..... |

both cylinders were at 180 tested it yesterday

and yes it is a 295 4 stroke and it dont burn oil that i know of i have not ran it that long but it somked really bad with the muffler on and not with it off oil was dripping out of the muffler

it sounds like the engine had to much oil in it at one time and pushed it into the muffler. make sure there is no more than 1.5qts in the engine and the oil will burn out of the muffler.

ok i am just gona take it out back and have at it all day maybe it will burn out haha i drove it down my street yesterday and looked back and could not see the houses down my street haha

ok i stopped by a guys shop and he told me what they do is put lighter fluid in the muffler and mix it around and wash it out with a pressure washer and i did it and it did now smoke for like ten min and now it seem its as bad as when i started. i remember someone sad my oil ring my be stuck? how do i check it? one other question i have is the hose that goes from my air filter box down to my crank case should fluid be coming out if it from the crank case?

ok just to update i changed the oil and filled it with 1.5 quarts and ran it around for a bit and the smoking stopped!!!!! now all i need to do i get the body painted and jack it up!
