Thanks Again for your comments 03RedClub!
What do you want to know? I've done about 50 of them.

Hi There, Mr Tahoe Dawg!

I was sort of wondering how difficult the installation is? Can a novice get this done right without too much trouble? Approx. How long would it take?
Are any "special" tools required? I've got a pretty decent set of tools (socket wrenches & rachets etc.) but they are split between 2 houses (some here
in the Chicagoland area and the rest down in Florida where the golf cart is located.) I had my (GE) motor re-worked last year by a company in Indiana
(EMP) to get me a couple extra MPH. I'm guessing that the new (re-worked) motor won't care if the 48 volts are coming from 4-12's or 6-8's. I was
going to have a local guy make me up some 4 gauge cables - guess I can still do this but maybe the new cables supplied in the kit are already the heavy
duty (4 guage) size?? Seems like it would be a shame to pay for new cabling (in the kit) and then throw them away... doesn't it?

Any light you might be able to shed on this would be greatly appreciated.

If you've done 50 or more of these conversions... is there a chance that you might still have a set of the installation instructions laying around someplace
which you could mail to me (or e-mail)?

If so, I can send you a private message with either my mailing address and/or my e-mail address.

Once-Again... Thank You Very Much (in advance) for your help & advice with this.

jim b.

Jim,

I just finished the conversion. I can give you all the details and plan on posting a write up of exactly what I did. For the most part it's not too difficult...just time consuming. I couldn't have done the conversion without Tahoedawgs help. PM me and I'll give you a call

Did you get the DC converter and the voltage reducer figured out and working properly?

Yes. Everything seems to be working. LED lights are really cool. I will be posting a write up soon. I am waiting for my motor. I was supposed to have received it last week.....I will be posting a write up on my unpleasant experience with that vendor as well. Anyway, David thanks for all your help and support.

I'm surprised to hear that. This is probably the first negative comment I've ever heard about them.

Not a sparkler guy, but if there is room would 8
6 volts be cheaper and give stronger run times?

Something that I have not seen made clear here: How is it that 6X8V increases run-time over 4X12V 25%? Am I correct that it is due to the generally higher Amp Hour rating of the 8V batteries? However, wouldn't there be very significant variables? I would think the percentage gain will vary considerably based on what you had !2V and what you go to (8V). For instance going from a Trojan 12V 150AH to a 8V 150 AH = 0%. However, going from a 12V 150AH to a 8V 190AH = 25%. Am I wrong here?
