your cart has a different rear set-up than mine,before 88 the carts had a different axle with the motor mounted sideways and the clutch mounted on the pinion.These don't have the pinned spring.Same idea though,increasing tension to delay shifting.

Mine didn't have a pinned spring either. I added one as per the mod.
