Thanks Mike and Chud...The g2 really doesnt have the wheels I want..they are black and I want chrome if its not too much..What is the smallest lift I need for 22s? Or what are the biggest tires that will fit with the 4" lift? Also if someone would explain the torque/spring kit to me..I am decent with wrench turning but I am a lineman by trade not a mechanic.Btw I traded a 96 Polaris 4 wheeler for the G9, just wanted something to tinker with and fix up to hunt on. Sorry for all questions but I am a newbie at golf carts.

Reg. your G9 is a great cart! Just start reading the Yamaha site. All kinds of info. here. The 4" lift is not a very reliable lift if your going to take it off road. The 6" Jakes is kinda the lift of choice here. But there are others out there, just read the old threads on here for a few nights. You will learn tons, mainly, what mods to do and which to pass by. But most importantly, maintenance on your car.
The torque spring goes in the secondary clutch. It is a stronger spring, to slightly raise the rpm on the motor before the car shifts up to a higher gear, to compensate for the larger tires. Very good investment for a lifted car with bigger tires.
These cars are allot of fun to work on (more fun to build than to drive). And they will hook you like drugs, so, say good-by to your wife and tell her you love her, while you still are able to think straight!! Most of us here have, GONE WILD!!
Enjoy, Mike

ok So I didnt buy the g2. I took yalls advice and started modding my g9. I covered it with camo clad, installed a rack on back, recovered seats, I also put an Allsport lift kit and 22 in tires with chrome wheels... Very pleased so far. I bought a torque kit complete with spring and the other sheave, but I havent installed it yet. After I lifted it with the bigger wheels,it started cuttin out at top speed. It runs fine until I floor it and then its like lopping. almost like turning the key off and on..Any help would sure be welcomed here. I want to fix this problem before I tackle the torque kit..Thanks for you help.

Start looking for bad or loose electrical connections. Around starter area, solenoid, and battery. Sound like a bad connection.

We want pictures!!!

Ok Mike heres the pics after some mods..Dont have any before pics. I used Camoclad, new seat covers from Ebay and allsport 7 inch lift and wheels and tires. The rack I is a fourwheeler rack but I am fixin to mod it. Its too high to through a deer on now! I installed a torque kit. Engine still lopes but I found out today that my intake on the carb is cracked. So I am gonna buy a new one and a new carb.

I would say it is the govenor,if you did not adjust it at the rear end. When I got mine it would run around 12 mph with 22s.

I turned the 10mm nut on the rear all the way in and it was muuuch better.

There is a small 18 gage wire coming off the ground lug of the starter, and going into the main wire harness. There is a connecter there at the wire harness that goes bad. cut back the tape on the harness, and replace the connecter there, and at the starter lug. That is the ground I was talking about.

When that is done, if it still cuts out, then check weights in the primary clutch... Yes, I know, Its a long Smallblock story, but do it anyway!

Good move on keeping the 9. And it looks great!! Just work out the bugs!

Take a closer look at the cart guys are you sure that its a G9!!! It has the rocker panels and the aluminum trim around the dash like a G2. Are you sure hes not hitting the rev limiter like on a G2 and thats why its cutting out at high RPMs!!!!! Im no expert at this but i think its a G2 in the pictures.
