97 cc fe290 hesitation when starts
have a 97 fe290 clubcar that will run fine for a few minutes then will sputter and lurch...have to drive around for 1-5 minutes then will start to run fine for the round. Each time I go to use it have to go through this process. I have replaced the fuel pump, spark plug, fuel filter and cleaned the carb. Would appreciate any ideas for this problem Thanks

Have you checked your compression?

Hey krug, check the float to make sure it truly does float by putting in a cup of gas. Also hold it up after installing the needle and make sure that it is closing needle completely if its not you can slightly bend the float to make adjustments.

Took the carb apart again and cleaned everything again, made sure none of the jets were plugged, float seems to be fine...floated in cup of gas all seems to fine. Put everything back together worked fine for a few minutes and started acting up again. Let sit overnight and same problem arises. Back to square one any other suggestions out there thanks.

Mine did that, what a pest. It got "colditis" overnight. Carb was getting worn in my appplication and a 1/4 screw in on the idle screw fixed it for a while but these motors are finicky and only a new carb solved it. I never would have solved it without Tom (Shadowmans) help. The idle circuit passages get worn and there is no cure after initial adjustment, they just wear out like everything and need to be replaced. FC |
