Clicking noise.....No movement
1994 EZGO 36 Volt. Came home to a cart that wouldn't move. Kinda seemed like a belt busted or something. So, I got online and searched this site and found another thread with "clicking noise" saw the part he replaced and fixed his problem.
I got the motor off, removed the snap ring and pulled out the worm gear with two bearings on it. It looks fine. I then put it in the coupling on the motor. Goes right in and will turn the rotor of the DC motor. I then put it back in the differential and rolled the cart and it turns. So, to me it looks like everything is ok and not stripped, leaving only some sort of axial movement to keep the two from mating on the motor.....I am kinda lost on this one.....The motor and the input shaft seemed to be stuck inside one another very well.... Thoughts???? TIA!! Jimmy |

Re: Clicking noise.....No movement
how old are the batteries, and can you do a volt test of the whole pack, and each battery, are you sure it's not the solenoid clicking?
Did you check for a striped brake drum? |

Solenoid. Don't think so. Sound was coming from where the motor is. |

Re: Clicking noise.....No movement
there's a few things it can be, just need to start checking things off the list
sounds like a striped brake hub, you have to be able to see the castle nut in the middle of your rear wheels, if you have a center cap covering the nut, you need to remove it, when you can see the castle nut holding the hub on the axle, --- this will take two people to do, one of you put your foot on the brake and push the go pedal easy, JUST for a second, and the other needs to see if the NUT in the middle of the wheel is spinning, and the wheel is not, start with the driver side, but check both , this is a common problem with ezgo, let us know what you find, its a easy fix if this is your problem. |

No, it doesn't go, right? ... have somebody press the gas and you run around looking at axle nuts ~ If one is spinning without moving the tire you have found your problem.

Re: Clicking noise.....No movement
That got it guys. I appreciate the help. Also I learned some stuff along the way by disassembling other things I didn't need to.
Thanks again! |
