Re: 64v on 48v motor
I just upgraded my 1989 DS Club car from 36 to 48volts, and I still run the 36v motor and it is a BIG difference in speed and torque. Its actually fun to drive now. It went from 10-11mph to 16-18 mph. ....
Just a Warning....you must tell the passenger on the rear seat to hold on if you deciede to floor it from a stop.....if not, off the back they will go.. |

This is sorta what I did for the Zombie Resonse Vehicle after my daughter tried to knock over a 50 foot oak tree with the old cart. I bought the cheapest (ie; 36v resistor) cart I could find and moved everything over to that frame. There were some challenges but if you need help give me a holler............ |

Re: 64v on 48v motor
I agree with everything being said here. I just did a 48 to 72V conversion on a Precedent and it was absolutely incredible. I say go for it.

Re: 64v on 48v motor
This is WAY more complicated than your stated question.....but I think you know that.
1st; How are you going to charge them? 2nd; Can you afford to replace components that might be damaged? I would think that if you have upgraded all of the electrical components that would need to be you would already know the answer to your question. There are quite a few posts related to this on this forum, try seaching around a bit, I think the guys that have done the legwork already have already chimed in........ |

Re: 64v on 48v motor
You wouldn't be able to charge them properly, you'd burn up your controller, you'd burn up solenoids, F&R switches, amongst other things. The entire system must be converted over to something capable of handling the extra power. The motor is the only part of the system that can handle extra voltage such as this.
