Default Charging question

I have an older Lestronics 25 amp 48 volt charger. Yesterday I frequently monitored the charging cycle of my new batteries. Initial amps when first plugged in was at 26. Started charging at 1130 am. Around 8 pm last night the batteries were still charging but at 2 amps. There was a noticable bubbling sound at that time and voltmeter read 62 volts. Is this typical or is something wrong? Not a fan of throwing 750 bucks out the window, so any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

8 hours & bubbling is nothing to worry about.
The first charge is typically the longest, up to 12 hours or more.
Charge length will reduce as batteries break in.
Are you sure about the 26v reading initially? That was way too low.
A 48v pack should not be drawn down below a standing 48v
Fully charged it should hold 50.9v 12 hours after the charger shut off.
Charger cut off voltage is in the 63v range. Hope this helps!

Scotty, forgot to mention that I just run them down a little to low. That was the second charge on the batteries. Should have mentioned that in orignal post. A thread that I posted earlier about that motor upgrade from stock to 8 hp was promted by short run time on the batteries. Im hoping with that motor upgrade Ill get a little longer run time.

The 26 amps was the reading on the charger.

I have a Lestronic II, but mine is 36V. My initial charge rate is 25-26amps and it tapers to 1-2amps after several hours also. It sounds like your charger is working fine! I would only worry if the charge rate doesn't decrease or the charger runs longer than 16-18hrs.

Simple man, thanks. Makes me feel better about the charger. I purchased the cart for $200 and the charger came with the purchase so Ive been a little skeptical about it. Seems I got my moneys worth just out of the charger considering how pricey they are. By the way, besides the batteries, cart is running great with less than $300 in it so far. Many more upgrades coming soon though.
