Solenoid question
I tested the Solenoid with my DMM and got a reading of 40.7?
Don't know if it matters but the cart was on the charger and charging as this test was performed. I'm going through the process of finding out why my cart stopped running. Had 2 dead batteries...replaced them. Getting 50.9 across the pack 15 hours after charge cycle completed. Replaced the OBC. Tested the motor with a 12V battery and it's fine. Cart is a 2004 CC DS Series cart with an upgraded 700 amp controller and a non-stock motor that I cannot ID since it has no labels or plates. So I'm now looking at the Solenoid and have a question. Should I be getting 48 volts through the Solenoid? |

Re: Solenoid question
You should on the large terminal on the pack side. The other terminal is getting feed through the pre charge resistor and that may be why the reading is lower.

Re: Solenoid question
Thanks for responding speedchaser. I had the positive probe on the positive bolt of the solenoid and the negative probe on the negative bolt...how I took the reading.
Question: based what little info provided would you guess that the solenoid is working ok? |

Re: Solenoid question
What negative bolt, they are both positive, when the solenoid engages the other larger post will deliver full bat power to the controller. If you want to read the posts, put negative on b- of controller or on the main negative bat post, and the poistive on the terminal you are testing.
As far as if the solenoid is working I cannot tell you, does it click when you depress the go pedal? Also, what type controller, if it is an altrax it may have led lights that will go on with key switch on, make sure it is showing the proper blinks. |

Re: Solenoid question
I assumed that the left side bolt on the Solenoid was negative. It does click when you press the go pedal. I appreciate you providing some detail on how to go about correctly testing. The controller is a 700 amp GE FS with no LED display.

Re: Solenoid question
I think you could jump the large posts and see if the cart runs, that would at least eliminate the controller out of the equation, try a search for testing solenoid.
