2000 CC DS , how to adjust the streeing box to take out the play from the streeing wheel.

don't think you can. I would guess a tie rod or wheel bearing is bad/loose

Also the steering u joint looking things that go to the rack can wear out. Easiest way to further it out is watch the steering shaft while someone turns the wheel back and forth. You will be able to then look at those components and see which one is loosey goosey
