Can I put 4-12 volt batteries in my Club Car instead of 6-8 volt?

Well if its a DS - then just peek inside any normal/proper DS with 6 x 8v - get some aluminum angle and a pop rivet tool, and replicate what you see. It made the DS successful for so many years. You might have to hacksaw out some 12v supports and change the pattern - but it should actually be easier than carving up a Precedent tub. No? Not that I've ever seen 4 x 12v in a DS. Didn't even know they did that (for heaven's sake)!

Yes, I have a 2006 DS with 4 12v batteries. No tub but aluminum frame. Where I go I do not think the pop rivets would hold up. I really think I would have to get a creative aluminum welder to work. I am about to stick with 12v for a while longer.

I have seen carts with ply wood in the bottom to support the batteries, I play quite a few different golf courses, so I don't remember where I saw this. Since I got my cart I always check out the carts.

A short while ago I was thinking of buying a 2008 Precedent. It was in great shape and the price was right. BUT when I learned it was early 2008 and it had 4 x 12v (plus a non IQ controller) I bailed. The hassle and cost of changing out the 12v (and replacing the non OEM after-market controller), just sucked the excitement away.

Yeah they made DS 12v as well as Precedents. Why I have no idea... they went back to 8v a year or two later...

Has anyone tried putting 8 6volt batts in a precedent that has 4 12 volts. I just bought a 2008 precedent and would like to if it will work.

I think you would have to do the conversion (sticky) then put the other two batts in the bagwell...

My friend just bought a used 2010 Star with 6-8V and claims 60 miles where my CC 2010 claims with new Trojan 875's 20 miles!

I just checked their website and the 60 mile range is based on 8x6v Trojan T105 batteries.

Yes you could put in 4 12v BUT the more plates you have , the better you are ,stay with 6 8v
