If the 8-6V can get you 60 miles then why doesn't club car offer it?

Also why does CC keep their carts below 20mph?

Thanks

Eight batteries cost more money than six. They went to four batts for a year or two to try to cheapen even more. Luckily they figured out how horrible the performance was and went back to six...

. . . the fleets complained about loss of performance, ie, not enough rounds out of a charge, from what I understand . . .

My golf course got "sold" on Precedents when they first came out (with 4 x 12v). A large portion of the 72 carts they leased, didn't even make it much past year two of their 3 year lease before the 12v batteries started failing in droves. CC almost lost-the-business for the upcoming lease period - CC took early trade out of the 4 x 12's and replaced all the fleet with 6 x 8v, but this time for a 4 year lease. It does need to be said that commercial use golf carts are worked pretty hard.

The 6 x 8v replacements survived the longer 4 year lease and are just now being traded out at the end of the longer lease term for a new fleet of 6 x 8v starting in 2014. CC got a big black-eye in the commercial cart world for their 4 x 12v blunder.

the shop i go to bought 13 2009 ds's and wanted to put bigger motors in a couple of them, the major motor builder said the 4-12's was the worst idea ever,so to put a better motor in go to 6-8's

Sounds like 6 8volt batts it is. My only other ? is will this conversion effect anything else on the cart like the charger or motor controller etc. I have a 2008 CC precedent.

No - everything is 100% compatible. Too bad, too - because I think they went to 6 x 8v in model year 2008 1/2. No kidding, I think they changed back half way thru that year! Like Maxwell Smart says...Missed it by "that much".

Yeah that's a bummer the 4 12's that are in it are still working but they are original and I can tell they don't have much life left. But considering I picked the cart up for $800 and the rest of it is in great shape I'm still feeling pretty good about the purchase. Hopefully I can find a good deal on some 8's when these 12's completely die.

Assuming you weren't holding a gun and wearing a mask when you acquired it - that's a killer deal!
