Just curious, but what exactly goes wrong with these units that have to be replaced so often? is it a mechanical problem, electrical, corrosion, poor designed linkage, cheap materials, etc...
Someone posted a picture recently of one of those units taken apart, it is a very simple device, hard to think it can have so many problems that cannot be corrected.

I'd also like to point out that the original MCOR for the Precedent is still available. Part number 102528501. It's still a solid unit as far as I'm concerned. I go this route whenever possible.
So I am guessing that there are 4 generations of the MCOR?
What year did the first one come out?

They are supposed to be watertight, so I can't imagine it being corrosion...
I know sometimes the linkage wears out and causes slop in the throttle.

2000.5 = MCOR1 (All DS and Carryall)
2004 = MCOR2 (Precedent)
2012 = MCOR3 (All models)
2013 = MCOR4 (All models)

Also note that the MCOR1 and MCOR2 are identical except for the way they mount and the input shaft. The internals are the same. The MCOR3 and MCOR4 look the same as each other and are compatible with all models via the usage of different brackets for different cars.

they aren't exactly weatherproof which is stupid considering how close they sit to the ground

what I don't get is how the mcor4's are bad. we must have replaced over 1000 mcor3's with mcor4's and haven't gotten any of these carts back. what I do know is how similar these two look and that the only distinguishing features between the two is the parts number and the mcor4 has a yellow sticker whereas the mcor3 has a white sticker

I don't get it either. Wish we were lucky enough to say the same. The problem we've seen with the MCOR4s has been the internal microswitch. We've never had throttle fluctuation as of yet.
