Is there enough difference in changing them to pay the price for wires? what guage and cost??

To better understand the importance of larger battery cables it's easiest to think of the battery power flowing through the cables to the motor.
Most privately owned golf carts are modified or being used in a manner that puts higher demands on the drive system then the cart was originally designed for. When you increase the load on an electrical motor it responds by trying to draw more amperage to meet the demand. Larger cables allow for increased amperage flow. Bigger speed controls, solenoids, and F&R contacts are also required. If you upgrade only some of the cables or part of the system you will leave a bottleneck in the delivery system. This bottleneck will cause resistance in the flow which will result in heat that can damage components and cause failure. You can make these improvements in stages. In a series car you can upgrade the F&R first. (not required in a sepex or IQ cart) Then the battery cable system, and then the controller and solenoid. |

Scotty B, if I am going to leave my 2010 Precedent stock with just a voltage converter with lights and radio, is there any advantage to upgrading the stock 6 ga. cables? If I upgrade to 4 or 2 ga., will I notice any improvement? I have the cart set at speed code 4.

No stock carts do okay on stock cables. The guys here are upgrading their controllers and cables to run bigger tires, carry extra passengers, run long distance, etc.
Upgrade your cables when you change batteries or as the cables corrode over time. |

the one i found says no load imput over 10mA but output current is 20A. So is it a 10 amp or 20?
