Exclamation Alltrax cooling fan and series cart

I have a SR48500 controller with the fan built-in and when the controller reaches the temperature for the cooling fan to turn on, it only works upon the throttle being activated.

I have a buddy with a CC precedent and his stays on the whole time until it cools down. Throttle activated or not.

I tried contacting Alltrax today but keep getting their voicemail.

Can someone confirm if this is expected behavior and if not, is there any way I can make it to be on all the time? I'd like to prevent overtemp.

thanks in advance.

In most series drives (SR controller), the controller is only on when the pedal is pushed, so the fan turns off when the pedal is lifted. With Sepex drives (XCT controller), the controller is turned on and off by the keyswitch, so it stays on when the pedal is lifted.

Connect a laptop to the SR and record a data log to see what the temperatures are climbing to. Maybe no changes are needed.

Thank you. I actually -rewired the KSI and now the controller comes on with the key switch. Controller is still reaching "overtemp" when offroading. Overtemp seems to happen at 75 degrees celcius and then the cart barely moves after that until it cools down. Benefit of re-wiring the KSI for the controller is that the fan stays on without having to depress the pedal so it cooled down much faster. I pulled logs and contacted Alltrax and they think I should send it in as for the amount of time I was riding (10-15 mins max) and the amps it was pulling, it should not have reached "overtemp". Apparently these controllers should be able to handle 400+ amps continuously for a while. I guess we'll see.
