Default 2016 - Speed Magnet?

I have a 2016 Precedent, JE1623.

I would like to increase the speed a bit, but I can't determine if a "speed magnet" can be used as some descriptions have a serial number range and others just say "IQ with ADC motor".

I believe that I found my answer - it will not work.

Correct. I had a response typed and must have lost it, got distracted lol

The iq carts use an 8 pole magnet. 4 north poles and 4 south poles. The speed sensor counts the rotations of the poles/motor and is monitored by the controller by monitoring the speed sensor as it spins.

The speed magnets are a 4 pole magnet so the controller sees half the RPM the engine is spinning because the magnet has half the poles in it vs stock.

The newer excel drive system already uses a 4 pole magnet. If someone made a 2 pole magnet then technically it may work but I’m not aware of anyone that has tried.

Get an alltrax controller and you’ll have full control do make it do whatever you want it to.

In some discussions with a guy that sells the magnets, he said that the number of poles does not help with the Excel system. 2 poles gives you the same speed as 4 poles.

I think that I will just pay for the Speed Code 4 setting, I can't really justify a new controller.

Doing that might save you a motor. Only issue I've heard of with the magnet, you can burn up your motor. The magnet prevents the cart from slowing down down hill so you can accidently over RPM the motor. If you live in flat land territory, I guess no issue., but Mtns is asking for trouble, and lending the cart out is even bigger issue since they may keep pedal down for fun.
