brake problems

i have a 1998 yamaha g16e. the brake pedal goes all the way to the floor and still doesnt stop fast. any adjustments??

Sorry, I missed your post. Take off the brake drums and inspect the linings first. If good you can "deglaze" the linings and get the rust off the drums with 90 grit sandpaper. You can also adjust the brakes by turning the "adjuster wheel" to get the lining closer to contact with the drum. Then take your floor mat and from the driverside, fold it over to the passanger side and take out the acsess panel. High pressure wash/blow out with compressed air and lubricate allthe moving parts. There you will see the 2 brake cables attatched to the "equlizer". Lock the brake,loosen the 12mm jam nut,unlock the pedal and turn in the "excentric" nut till the pedal will lock on the first "sector" tooth (the arm with teeth on it). This should bring the pedal back up so you have "skids" again. Good luck Dave
