6-6 volt vs 6-8 volt vs 4-12 volt batteries

Am in the market for a new or used Yamaha, Club Car or EZ-GO electric cart. Am trying to figure out the advantages/disadvantages of the 6-6 volt vs 6-8 volt vs 4-12 volt battery systems. Charge time, run time, flat speed, uphill speed, life of battery, replacement costs. Cart will be used for golf only, usually 18 holes on semi-hilly terrain, tho sometimes 36 holes per day. Probably average 3-4 rounds per week, year round. We live in Washington state. Had been using a 1989 Hyundai 6-6 volt system that worked fine except for being rather slow on uphills or with heavier passengers. But it just went kaput. Can anyone provide info?

Amperage is stored in the battery lead. Amperage is what the motor uses and so the more lead the more amperage storage capacity..... What's golf?

I'm sure your response probably makes a lot of sense to some, maybe most people. As I stated, I am a non-mechanically inclined person. Your response went way above my eyes & ears. Your response would seem to indicate no difference between a 6-8 volt vs 4-12 volt system as they both have the same amount of battery lead. Yet, some manufacturers went to 4-12 volt & then switched to 6-8 volt system. Why?

Amount of lead per battery. The 6-8 volts have more lead than 4-12 volts. Any of the later model carts are good. You will be surprised of the dif. from yer old cart.

are you saying the newer cc Precedent , which has 4 x 12 should run approx the same as a early 2000's 8x 6 volt? Would the battery life be the approx the same in years?

On the Precedent. Supposed to be changing the DS back to 8 volts.

The 4-12's seem to do well in the aftermarket, but all the OE's are having trouble with them on the course carts. Don' think the courses are doing as good of maint. as the aftermarket folks.
