Default 2000 EZGO TXT 295cc Top End Rebuild

I have a 2000 EZGO TXT with the Robins EH29C engine. The engine runs good but smokes a little and uses a little oil. I want to just replace the rings on the pistons. I looked online for a top end rebuild kit with gaskets but couldn't find anything. The only kits I saw was for a total rebuild and they were $300 plus dollars. I wasn't looking to spend that much. Does anybody know were you can just buy the rings and gasket kits for these engines? Thanks for any help!

I just pulled my engine in November. You may want to complete rebuild. They had an issue with the valves smashing into the head over time. So valve work would be required regardless. From what ive read anyways...

I just pulled one of these engines apart, there is no rod bearings in these engines. Just a aluminum rod around a steel crank! If the rings are wore out good chance other parts are also! Including the valve seats. EZ to check

You have to pull the rods to replace the rings. Think I would not chance increasing the compression on the old rods. If you do and it comes apart ( as they do) The crank and maybe the block may be damaged!
Well worth the $100 for new rods.

Good luck
