Default Switch Issue?

Hey All,

So I just got my golf cart going again after sitting all winter. We use it at our campground. When I got it out of the garage it was fine. And 90% of the time it is. However once in a while if I step on the gas pedal I get nothing. Eventually after holding it down the cart will start going.

It did this at the end of last year when we were closing up the camper and it was a very rainy weekend. I figured it was due to moisture or water or something. But it wasn't the issue yesterday.

I'm still new to this whole cart thing? Any suggestions? Cart runs fine once it gets going.

1984 Marathon is the cart.

Thanks in advance.....

check the tension on the starter belt, they can slip and cause this problem.

Ok. But I don't get anything. No sound no nothing. Its like as if I had a dead battery or the key was off.

Possibilities...

Weak battery.
Poor grounds.
Dirty microswitches.
Dirty FnR switch {the big copper lugs}
Worn brushes in starter.
Corrosion on battery lugs.

Yeah it probably could use some TLC. I had a guy work on it last year and it was fine all summer. Just the end of the camping season this started. I'll work on it this weekend. I need a new battery in general so I'll start there. Its definitely beat up.

And I was thinking grounds as well.
