Re: 1987 Marathon muffler
Good luck with whatever your friend chooses to do. I have recently acquired a 91 marathon with no muffler at all. In fact it was long ago left for dead. Once I get it to breath life again I will piece together an exhaust with a cheap car muffler and reduce the tailpipe to 1" to try and get some back pressure. The muffler for the 3pg is $800. Not sure if anyone has ever bought one though. Sorry for the rambling. I guess your friends options are to piece something together or search for a used muffler. The used ones are getting old though.
I hear people say that the 2stroke relies on the expansion chamber to properly scavenge, which is true In a high performance application. I just doubt our ezgo mufflers are that highly engineered. It's a 9 HP engine. |
