Default G14 engine swap

Hey all, new to this site and 1st time post. I have a G14 with a bad engine. Can anyone tell me if a G16 engine will interchange?

Can be done BUT going to be expensive. I looked at that before doing the Vegascarts swap in my G14

Check out this thread, lots of good info from a Yamaha dealer manager (retired), and others.

That thread only talks about what is involved in the earlier G2-14 family of engines NOT the later and completely different G16 and later engine family.Of course the other option is to rebuild the G14 engine unless you have totaled the block. You can still buy new parts from yamaha. I used TNT parts site to get the part#'s usually found boats.net prices the lowest by far.

I have done it, and can confirm it's a big job. Lots of fabrication. I did enjoy the task, but it was a lot of work. The latest Drive 1 muffler does clear the gas tank (original G14 tank is on same side as G16 muffler, added heatshield blanket to gas tank as well).
