Default 1994 Yamaha G9 sputtering after it warms up.

My Golf cart seems to run really good for about 2 to 5 minutes. It has to have the choke all the way on to run. Then it starts to spit and sputter no matter where I set the choke. I have changed carb to a new one. It still does it with either carb. I have put on new airbox. As well as inline fuel filter. I have put on a new starter/generator. I have tuned carb. New plug. I put an a new carb spacer because it was cracked. No matter what I do it still spits and sputters after a few good minutes of driving. But if I wait a little bit it runs perfect for a few minutes again.

A couple things I would start with.

First, check valve lash. SEt both valves to .004"

Secondly, check spark once it starts sputtering. Sputtering and falling on its face after a few minutes of driving is symptomatic of a failing ignition coil or ignitor. I like to use a timing light because you can do it as you're driving. Just hook up the timing light and drive. Watch the light for the flashing. If the flash is irregular or inconsistent, then it's losing spark. You can test the coil with a standard multimeter (best to do it while it's hot in a failed state). Same with the spark plug cap.

Unfortunately the only way to test the ignitor is to swap it with a known good unit. When my G9 was doing the same thing, it was the ignitor. Let it cool down for a few minutes and it would run again for a few minutes

Thanks I've order a new coil igniter. I'll let you know.

How do I slow down the golf cart? Somehow it is super fast after changing everything.
