Default G2 - High pitched whine

Got a Yamaha G2 thats been lifted (4”) with a high torque clutch. Runs real well but it’s just started to make a high pitched whine at full speed - also more noticeable when going downhill. Any ideas? Cheers from wintery New Zealand!

Does the whine get louder or faster with speed? It could be an axle bearing? Or it could be something rubbing on either one of the tires or one of the clutches?

Yep. Definitely increases with speed. Bugger. Are bearings a major? And how can I confirm?

First thing is make sure it's nothing that could be rubbing. Basically anything that spins (tires, clutches, engine parts) check around it and see if there are any rub/wear marks. If you can't find anything, it must be an internal part somewhere, probably a bearing.

Axle bearings aren't too bad. Transaxle bearings....good luck, never done that yet. I've seen a few do it here, try searching. Check your fluid level in the transaxle, maybe low? Could have water in it? Fluid should be dark, maybe translucent if its newer. If it's milky, change it. Might even change it twice if it's really gross.
