Lift Question on newer gas carts
Hello, thinking about building a newer Yamaha possibly a G29 . I've noticed that must of the lifts I see on them are drop spindle why are they more popular than an A-arm ? Thanks......

Re: Lift Question on newer gas carts
I would guess fewer parts and easier/quicker install.

Re: Lift Question on newer gas carts
ok thanks for reply.... I figured they were less money but have also read that you can have death wobble at higher speeds with bigger tires ?

Re: Lift Question on newer gas carts
Yeah it makes the front track width wider and the kingpin or ball joints (turning axis) is narrower than where the wheels and tires are (wheel hub/bearings) so it puts more stress on everything. That's why the drop spindles are cast iron not steel from what I've seen. Maybe some are steel. I don't know everything :)

Re: Lift Question on newer gas carts
The spindle lifts are great for looks and low cost. They can be terrible and even dangerous at higher speeds. If the stock suspension is worn out they will accentuate the problem. Always inspect and replace worn suspension and steering parts before installing a lift.
If you want the ultimate, the Jakes Long Travel kit is vastly superior. There are other long travel kits available too. The idea is to have a softer suspension that has more travel than stock to soak up bumps and give a much better ride. Steering feel with an LT kit will also improve. |
