Default J17 carburetor inlet

What is the open port on this carburetor supposed to be hooked too? When I first got this cart the oil reservoir was ran to this which I found drowned my carb in oil so I quickly found that didn’t go here.

I believe that's your fuel inlet. And your carb doesnt set oil ratio, the oil injection pump does. If you are hooking oil tank directly to carb, it'll never be right.

Well there’s an inlet just to the left of this open port under the choke cable where I’ve got the fuel hooked up.

Look on other side of carb. There should be a gold clip and mine just has a hose that runs from that inlet and hooks in clip. If I can figure out how to post pic I’ll show you. It’s J17 as well

First attempt at pics. First one you’ll see the small hose that is blocked off with screw. That’s to oil inlet. Second pic you can see the line to fuel pump goes out horizontal and the U shaped hose that is inlet you were asking about. Hope that helps

Guess it's a vent. Oil inlet port never had a "screw" of any type I have seen. It was just a port to get sucked in with air/fuel mix, and was in front of the throttle blade if I recall correctly. (Just a "dab" of oil as deemed fit). That's one problem with them, they move so little oil, it's hard to tell if its working correctly or not.

I just cut the hose and put silicone on a screw to block it off. I’m going to premix. That’s the screw I was taking about.

this hose is a vent do not block it. if your premixing them block the very small port off. the other is the fuel inlet.
