I reinstalled the elbow and the belly pan on my cart. If you look in the elbow it has some metal inside to protect it from the heat. Mine has been this way for a while with no issues.
I imagine if you left it off the fumes and heat in the engine compartment would be pretty bad since there’s no tail pipe.

Was just looking for this same info and wondered if there was a risk with the plastic components and heat from the exhaust. Thanks for elaborating on the topic!

I took mine off last night...
The bottom pan gets pretty hot, hopefully it will be ok?

The Arrestors get clogged all the time. We just take them off, put everything back and call it a day. Havent seen any issues by doing that.

When do you think the arrest or is an issue or how many hours do you all have on your cart?

210 hours on mine. I pretty much only use non-ethanol gas. (Not sure if that’s relevant to the exhaust or not) This made a huge difference.

How do you loosen the clamp on the spark arrestor? It looks like you need an Allen wrench for the bolt but there isn’t enough room to use it.

I used channel locks to rotate the arrestor/clamp assembly, then there was plenty of room for the allen wrench. Voila!
