Default Exhaust fumes in cab

I’ve got a 2017 drive 2 EFI that has awful fumes when driving or standing still. I have to keep the windshield down to keep the air moving.

It looks as if the muffler is right under the front seat and there is no tail pipe. There’s some sort of filter or silencer clamped onto the muffler. I’m thinking that is causing a backup or perhaps I could remove it and clamp an extension pipe and direct the exhaust out the side?
