cgtech, thank you. fantastic input. making progress.
I've heard a "bearing puller" may be required if the bearings are to be replaced. Wondering what your experience has been. Is a "bearing puller" typically required or is there alternate solution for getting the bearings out? What about the replacement bearing. Does installation typically require a press? Thanks in advance.....any guidance is much appreciated. |

The input shaft bearing- I usually heat the aluminum a little, then smack the housing (bearing facing down) on a block of wood, and the bearing just flies right out. Install is about the same (new bearing in the freezer for 1/2 hour, then heat housing. Quickly install cold bearing before the housing can cool down.
