checking battery's

My parents have a 36 volt ez-go. Have been charging each batt. by itself. can i just take a load tester for the 10 second hold and be good enough to check battery's. There all charging up and after I do the 10 second hold they just barley go to weak. But the cart want hold a charge like it used too. Also can anybody tell me how to check the factory charger. Thanks

1) Does factory charger turn on when plugged into wall and cart? If no ,what is pack voltage?

2) Does charger turn off ? if yes what is battery pack voltage?

"Battery drops to weak..."

ASSUMING you are using a automotive style tester, it is putting a "light"
load on batteries.
If fully charged batt tests "weak" on AUTOMOTIVE tester, it is no good.

You would need a 350 amp carbon pile load tester to get a true reading on a Golf cart battery because of their size and design... most people don't realize they already have a load tester for these batteries - the cart.

To test:
Charge until charger shuts of automatically.
Let pack rest 12 hours.
Connect a handheld meter (if you don't have an in dash digital meter).
Write down the at rest voltage.
Drive the cart with the meter connected and place it where you can read it safely while driving. take the cart through a few hard full accelerations (preferably uphill) and note the lowest reading you see.
Drive around now for 15 minutes. Park the cart and let the pack rest for 10 minutes. Again what is the pack reading at rest now?

If you give us this info we will be able to give an estimate of their condition.

I was trying to check my batteries as well but I didn't know how much throttle to give it for the test. This sums it up perfectly! Thanks Scotty b! Scott
