I will probably do the auxiliary battery so I dont use the drain the power of the main pack. And the HF charger mentioned above seems like a good option as well. Thanks for the info guys.

i use a 12 volt rv/marine deep cycle battery and a simple battery tender

I installed a 12v marine battery. I run power to a six adapter buss and run accessories from there.

I mounted a cigarette type charger and charge it with a regular batter charger.

I use and AGM motorcycle battery. I run my primary lights, glow lights and horn off it. It's a lot lighter and takes up considerably less space than another full size battery. I have yet to have any issues with it and, like others, I charge it separately and when ever necessary. Never more than two weeks of no charge time.

AGM, SLA, and "wet" lead batteries generally have close to the same "energy density" and size. Its not like switching to lithium (where its possible to get the same energy from a battery about 3/5 the size & weight.

I use a small electric wheelchair battery with a separate charger. It runs lights, a MP3 amp and a 12 volt socket that usually recharges cell phones.
