Default Voltage Reducer Problem

I installed a voltage reducer into my EZGO Electric cart. I wired the remote wire into the key switch per the diagram so it will only turn on when the key is in the on position. I have headlights and a radio hooked up to the voltage reducer. When key is on, the lights and radio will power on. The problem I'm having is when I toggle the forward/reverse switch the lights and radio turn off for a half second and then back on. The brief disruption in power resets my radio and is driving me crazy. Any thoughts on why this would be happening?

I'm guessing but series cart? Power to the keyswitch comes from the run microswitch on the FnR assembly. Anytime you change direction this switch will cycle and cut power to the key. If you put it in neutral it should turn off.

I just installed a madjax 30amp one in my cart (36 volt cart) yesterday and when I turn my lights on i'll get a brief interruption in my radio also but not enough to reset the radio. I haven't tried switching my FWD/REV switch (PDS) yet but I will try that when I get home from work today to see what happens.

PDS should not have a problem. Which headlights do you have? You could switch to LEDs and that problem would probably go away.

I had the same issue. I upgraded to a HD reversing contactor from Scottyb and that problem went away.

I just put in the madjax 30amp in my PDS as well. Haven't tried the radio to see if it will cut out but my reducer won't even power up til the switch is toggled in F or R.

Sorry, it's an EZ GO TXT PDS. I think 2004.

If I can't run the remote wire from the voltage reducer to the key switch, what should I run it to instead?

you can run it to a toggle switch and back to a 36 volt source. you just need to remember to turn it off when not in use or it will run your batteries down. (plus wear and tear on the unit itself)
It's simple to run it to your key switch though.
