Default Marathon Doesn't Turn Off

Well got some other issues straighten out tonight , but now sometimes when you let off the gas it just keeps running at like an idle speed and you have to turn the key off to kill , and sometimes it starts when key is turned back on , also started backfiring when you release gas pedal . And the 3rd problem. It runs way faster in reverse than in forward.
Sorry for all the questions, just trying to get this one finished up by the weekend so I can return it to the owner and can get started on mine. Thanks

Sounds like the pedal switch is sticking in the closed position.

What pedal switch would that be . makes sense because if you stomp the gas pedal hard it will stop . Thanks

Flip open your seat and looked mounted to the front of the cart and you'll see a switch that looks like this:

As you can see it's right below my choke cable. Yours is a older cart but it'll be in the same area. It's probably stuck and not letting the cart shut off. You can push on your accelerator pedal and see if it is opening and closing if it is you probably need a new switch and if it's not it may just need adjusting.
