How to wire Brake Turn Signal and Running Lights Together
I have a 94 Ezgo that I am adding all the bells and whistles to. It is mostly a diy project and I have come to a quandary... I purchased a multifunction switch and I can have turn signals and brake lights, which I have tested and works great. Now I am trying to get them to be running lights as well. The brake lights that I am using have a single power wire and ground with a dual element bulb, and was wondering if a relay is necessary to get it all to play nice together? Any help would greatly be appreciated.

You need 3 wires to get those functions.

4mula1fan above is correct;
Either you have the wrong bulb (dual filament) in the light or there's another hot wire you haven't found. Maybe it's tucked into the light housing or cut off or something?? Keep looking you may find it, But normally the turn signal filament IS also the brake light filament. The second filament is the running light |

Re: How to wire Brake Turn Signal and Running Lights Together
Needing a relay depends of your switch and the bulbs that will be connected to it... For instance, if your switch supports 5A, then you cannot connect something needing 10A, for instance... or it will warm and eventually burn.
At this time, you must use a relay that will be "activated" by your switch (no much power) and a second line in it will pass the power to your equipment. To calculate the Amps from watts, use: A = W / V (A:Amps, W:Watts and V:Volts) Out of it, do not forgets fuses... again, depending of your needs. |

First pull the bulb and look in the socket. Are there 2 brass contacts ? if yes then you have the right socket. If it only has 2 wires they might be Turn and Running then use the case for ground.
