Thumbs up 1997 ezgo belt size/smaller belt for more torque

I have a 1997 EZ-GO TXT. I am wanting to increase the torque . I have researched and believe that I am wanting to install a smaller belt then the stock 42 inch belt. I’m understanding that I should go about 1inch smaller O.D. And same width on the new belt to gain torque. Additionally and I need to know the exact size I should be comfortable with using and a part number or location to purchase the belt Please advise me if this sounds accurate. Any advice is appreciated. Thank you in advance.

My experience is that you will need both belt and the 28 degree clutch to make a noticeable difference.

I tried just the belt, didn't see much difference. I am sure there is some.

I had one this past summer that I put just the shorter belt on. Made it take off much better. Stock clutch. I put standard belt back on it to make sure and yes it did made a difference. A little harder to shift though.

Yes it did take off a little faster. But I was looking for a lower gear to go up some very long hills. After belt we still thought we were going to have to get out and push.
short hills it always done fine, but the long hills, didn't seem to make much difference.
