Exclamation 1999 TXT gas won’t run under load

Hey guys, new poster here.

I bought a 99 TXT gas about a year & half ago. I have kept it at my shop this whole time and it’s been parked and not ran. She was road hard from the previous owner son, and I couldn’t get it to start a few months ago. So I just replaced the carb, fuel lines and fuel pump. Now it starts up and runs, Soon as it’s in gear it bogs down and doesn’t want to run barely at all. When not in gear, it will run decent until you rev it all the way up and once it gets high rpm it’s like she bogs down.. I can drive it in my parking lot and it runs about 2 mph. I have adjusted the carb and it doesn’t seem to help any. What are some other things to try? I ordered a new belt and it will be here tomorrow.

Sorry for the long post, I don’t do much forums til now.

Is the governor kicking the throttle back on the carb?

also have you adjusted the valves?

Pull the spark plugs, using a flashlight, look down into the spark plug holes while you rotate the drive clutch by hand and see if both pistons are moving up and down. Might have a broken rod. If one piston is stationary...likely broken rod. Engine could still run on one cylinder with no load, but be very under powered when you try to push the motor at all.

I have not adjusted the valves. Was looking for feeler gauges today and just found a set. Going to adjust tomorrow and see if that works. The cart ran good over a year ago, so I don’t think it would be a rod. It’s just been sitting for a while now, so I figured it was a fuel issue. Will update once I check the valves.

Adjusted the valves. Engine runs a lot smoother now, but once I give it 3/4 throttle it bogs down.
