2007 ezgo workhorse generator testing
Hello, I am wondering if anyone knows how to test a starter/generator and voltage regulator? My battery is not being charged and it will tend not to start and lose power going up hills. I've read you pull of the green wire on the generator and ground GF terminal but some say ground the green wire and then check voltage. So a little confused. Thanks for the help

Disconnect green wire from starter to regulator, Run jumper wire from starter side of green wire to main negative battery terminal to bypass regulator. If cart charges 14-18 volts then regulator is bad. If still no charging volts starter/generator is problem.

And can you tell me exactly what it would do if everything was ok?

It would charge battery at 14.1-14.6 volts with pedal down while running

Re: 2007 ezgo workhorse generator testing
Ok so it rose to 18+ v. I stopped before it got to high. When Iconnect it back up and run it , is it going to just drain the battery or is it going to cause issues? Just wondering if I can safely drive it for now and charge the battery once and a while?

It will run and not really hurt anything except the battery itself...but you never know when it will just die on you and leave you stranded...BTW order an OEM replacement Regulator...do not get the cheap china made ones A LOT of them are bad right out of the box...
