'02 txt suspension issues
Front shock is hitting part of the steering rack, and rear axle appears to be sitting sideways and cart is kinda sketchy going down the road pictures attached.

Re: '02 txt suspension issues
You more than likely need bushings in the front of the leaf springs. The front shock can be tightened on the top mount to bring the stud away from the rack. Have to unscrew the lower first.

Re: '02 txt suspension issues
Great idea on the front shocks but another thing I was wondering is, is the tab that is the lower shock mount supposed to be bent as much as it is?

Re: '02 txt suspension issues
They are all bent that much and they always seem very close on the rack. New bushings will help but while you’re at it, put a nut on the threaded shaft up to the cylinder then re-assemble the washers and new bushings. Should give you a little more space between the threaded stud and the cylinder. On the back it looks like worn out springs but I would look at all the bushings there as well. Should be 6 of them.

Re: '02 txt suspension issues
Has the cart hit something? Clearly the plastic front cover is not straight, which isn't necessarily an issue, but if the mounting points have moved due to impact, it would cause it to be out of alignment. It is likely, if there was an impact, there are frame or suspension components that are bent.

Re: '02 txt suspension issues
Don't know any history on the cart and have only owned it for 3 weeks tomorrow. We have just been going over it and fixing issues one at a time as we come across them. Looking a little closer at the rear leafs, the one on the passenger side still has a little curve to it but the driver side is flat so I ordered a new set of HD 4 leaf springs. So I think that will fix the issue in the rear.
Now I need to figure out why it is so sketchy going down the road. Possibly bad shocks?? I realize that to a point it will be influenced by the road but it just seems a little excessive |

Re: '02 txt suspension issues
Check for any loose parts in the steering components. Also check the front alignment and for any play in the intermediate shaft.

Re: '02 txt suspension issues
Ok so 2 questions, can bad shocks cause squirrellyness and always wondered how much do I tighten the shocks (compress the bushing) when installing?

Re: '02 txt suspension issues
"Squirrellyness" is usually caused by alignment issues or loose components. Tighten the shocks to compress the bushing so that it is approx. the same diameter as the washer(s).

Re: '02 txt suspension issues
Ok so haven't been able to find a definite answer to measurements from center to center on tires. Should they be closer in the front or rear and what should the difference be
