Default T-875 v. T-890 v. Ranger 160 battery question

I am getting ready to purchase 8volt batteries and I am confused. The three batteries I am looking at are the Trojan Ranger, T 890 and T 875. The ranger is rated at 204 amp, the T 890 is at 190 and t 875 is 170. I would automatically go with the higher amp hours but there is a $80 difference (per battery) in price between the T875 and the Ranger and a $60 difference (per battery)between T875 and T890. How will the higher amp hours effect my performance? Is it simply a matter of range or will the batteries effect other performance characteristics?

Just for clarity, a set of T875's will be $650. A set of Ranger's will be $1123.

I have always used the T875, with the others you will get longer running time but the other will be fine. When I was in the market I called all around and none of the Trojan dealers carried the Rangers and some weren't even aware of them. Every golf cart dealer I spoke to had a different opinion and some refused to carry Trojan because they said they weren't made the way they use to be. In closing the Trojans were good to me but I decided to go with Interstate and I am very happy with them. Good Luck.

If the T-890 is $60/battery more than the T-875, the price for a 48V pack would be about $1,010.
Under ideal conditions, if you drove your cart far enough to consume 67.5AH and immediately recharged the batteries after each use, the estimated lifespan of the three grades of 8V Trojan batteries mentioned, would be:
T-875 = 52 Months, so the cost will be $12.50/Month.
T-890 = 59 Months, so the cost will be $17.24/Month.
Ranger 160 = 62 Months, so the cost will be $18.02/Month.

At the prices given, the T-875 is far more cost effective than either of the other two.

The T-890 and Ranger 160 will have a greater range on a single charge and longer lifespan than the T-875 (13% and 20% respectively), but cart performance will be the same except the cart will start getting sluggish a wee bit sooner because the SoC of the T-875 will drop slightly more for the same distance traveled.

How do you use your cart? How far do you drive on a typical day? I'm running crown from-190's which is a 190AH battery and have yet to go below 85-90% SOC. I could of gotten away with a 170 AH battery and been just fine. You may need the extra AH for range though.

I'm not sure what my range requirements are. The cart is new to me. I live in a golf course community. The busiest day I can envision at this point is 18 holes of golf, picking up the kid at school which is a 4 mile round trip and a drive to my brothers for a beer or 6 which is a round trip of 2 miles.

Sounds like range may be important. I would go for the 190AH at a minimum.

Thanks All, I pulled the trigger on the T-890's. I found a golf cart shop that sold them to me for $138 each. I thought that was a fair price. Thanks again.

Hey Tommy. The Golf Cart Shop Sun City. I dealt with the owner, Matt. He was very good to work with.
