Default 97 has spark, fuel, compression, air but won't start

I have a 'new to me' cart that has been running great then all of a sudden it just stopped. I was driving through some tall brush the other day, but normally it's just driven on grass.

I turn the key to on, press the pedal and the engine spins, the air passage is clear, the fuel pump works, the spark plug is sparking and I have compression.

I even tried using starting fluid, but no luck.
It acts like there is a kill switch that is preventing it from starting.

Thanks for your help!

If spark plug is sparking, there is no kill switch.

If its not starting on starter fluid, your missing either spark or compression. Double check those

With the key in the ON position:I pulled the plug then pressed the pedal, the motor spins and it shows a spark.
I pulled the hose from the carb to filter and put my hand over the opening then pressed the pedal and can feel the compression.
I pulled the fuel hose from the carb to the pump then pressed the pedal and gas pumps out.

It acts exactly like when I try to start my tractor in the OFF position... my tractor starter will still crank the motor but it won't allow it to run.
I did see a double wire with a connector on the end not plugged into anything under the motor.

Do you have another plug to try. Sometimes they spark outside but not under compression.

Are you checking compression in the plug hole?

Do a quick check under the valve cover. Make sure the push rods are in place and the valves open & close as you turn the motor by hand. You could still have "suck & push" at the carb with stuck valves.

+1. Unless your a mechanical god, I'd bet the farm you can't tell the difference between 20psi and 120psi using your method. This could make a huge difference. You've diagnosed that you have SOME compression, but is it nearly enough? Only a compression gauge in the plug holes will tell you.

Tried a new spark plug, but no start. Will try to check compression and report back.
