Default head lights pulling down battery

I put a cheap set of harbor freight halogen lights on my G22 cause it had no lights at all but I've noticed that they pull down the battery and sometimes my cart is hesitant to start with the lights on. Do they make a voltage regulator or something that would fix this or does someone have another recommendation?

You could have a bad connection battery to generator/starter that is showing up with the extra load on it. Check that stuff before you buy parts. I had issues with my post clamps on battery even. The gen will make about 15A that is about what 180W so 55W lights x2 is 110W should be fine, however note they only make 15A at higher rpm not at idle. Your battery could also be weak it should be able to run the lights and start a car, where the starter takes may more power than the cart starter does. Also make sure the lights are grounded to battery, the frame is not grounded.

My battery is only 4 mos old so I'm leaning towards the connections. I'm also gonna change over to low wattage led lights eventually as well.

Connection issues very common on older carts!
