Default 2011 EZGO RXV Brake Lights stuck on and cart won't move

New to the forum and hoping someone out there can help me out. I have a 2011 EZGO RXV that I was trying to install a new after market LED light bar on. During the install process, the positive wire for the 12v light bar accidentally came into contact with the positive post on the cart battery that is last in the chain and pushing 48v. There was a spark when the positive wire touched the positive battery post. Now the solenoid clicks twice when the key is turned on (usually only clicked once before this) and the brake lights are constant on when the key is on. When I press the accelerator, nothing happens, including the releasing of the brake. The headlights on the cart are still working so I believe the 12v inverter is still ok but not positive. I swapped the solenoid out with another one from an identical cart and that is also not the issue. Anyone have any idea what may have been fried when the wire came into contact with the positive terminal? The cart is acting like it thinks the brake pedal is being applied as soon as the key is turned on. I am thinking the speed controller may have been cooked but I am hoping that is not the case. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Does the cart jerk when the key is turned on?

Are the pedals all the way up.

Will the cart release the brake when the key is in neutral and the run/tow switch is in ‘tow’?

These are the simple checks.

Cart does nothing when the key is turned on other than the solenoid clicking twice and the brake lights coming on. No jerking and I cannot get the brake to release even in tow mode in neutral.

Well, normally those indicators are telling you the brake test failed, but given the circumstances, I doubt it. Since you have a cart to pirate parts from, try swapping the motor brake from the other cart onto this one. If that doesn't solve it, you might be in more trouble... Where exactly were you attempting to hook these lights up anyway (what wiring)?

Under the plastic that has the run/tow switch should be instructions for bypassing the controller and applying power to the motor brake, (basically it’s switching 2 connectors. Before you go to all the hassle of changing the motor brake try, that. If the cart releases it probably isn’t the motor brake.

This is not true. Part of the brake test is a "twist test" where the controller attempts to twist the brake 1/4 turn both directions while the brake is locked. If the brake twists while locked, brake test fails. So, knowing that, it's easy to see how "just because it can be forced to unlock, doesn't mean it will pass the controller's test"

I understand the twist.

He indicated the cart doesn’t jerk, so I’m trying to rule out the brake.

It probably is something in the controller, but there are some simple tests that can be done before removing the motor brake or troubleshooting with a handheld or DVM.

In my case it turned out to be a corroded wiring harness that was causing my 2010 RXV to flunk the twist test. I figured that out after buying a replacement motor brake to just have no change in the problem.

I do have a cart to test parts on, however it is a functional cart that belongs to a buddy. I am hesitant to take much off his cart in fear of frying his parts as well since I do not know what is going on with mine. I have already reverted the wiring that I was attempting and put the cart back to its original state before I started and of course that did not fix the problem. I initially tied into the power and ground of the headlights that are installed on the cart which is powered by the 12v converter. The led light bar worked, however when I was driving the cart and turned the light bar on, the cart lost power so I thought I was drawing too much from the 12v converter. I left the light bar connected to to the headlight ground and was in the process of installing a separate converter just for the led light bar when I got careless and contacted the positive of the led light bar with the positive of the 48v terminal.

It sounds like he may have blown the second fuse under the controller cover. Not the keyswitch fuse, but the one that supplies +48V to the motor brake.
