Default clutches-lube or no lube?

On my 2001 cart, thanks to you guys i have disassembled my clutches with your tips on removal cost me 2.60 cents. I ordered new buttons and have smoothed the ramps on my cam. The drive clutch looks good so does the driven, the manual says nothing about lubing. Do i lube anything on either clutch or not. I have poured over a bunch of threads and didnt find anything . Also any good tips for reassembly of the driven in regards to the spring and preload? Thanks for any help.

No you do not need to lube any parts on those clutches. They are dry clutches.

Only yamaha clutches require minor lubrication, and it has a grease nipple.

no lube, i tried lube on them, but after a few operations the clutch will hang up. the lube actuatly attracts dirt and casues them to wear faster and hang up.

as for the pre load. I mounted the bottom half of the clutch in my vise and then pushed the top down while turning it to the correct position. you have to turn it father than you think when you first try. Then the trick is to hold it down in the compressed position until someone can put the snap ring back on and seated in its groove. I had my daughter help me. It took us a couple try's. When you have it correctly compressed and preloaded it is only overlapping the ramps inside by a very small amount, so you really have to keep it compressed together or it will twist back. Hope this helps.
