Default Engine swapping

I need to replace my blown 24 hp honda with a cheap alternative.

Any advice out there?

I doubt there is a cheap 24hp Vtwin out there? Is there a story that goes along with question?

I took my cart to a buddy to have some work done on it and it came back knocking and sluggish. I checked the oil and it was dry.
When I added oil it smoked and eventually blew a hole the size of a nickel thru the block. It still starts but due to the hole it has low compression.
Do you think there is a fix for that?

some buddy,
since it's already setup for an aftermarket engine you could probably get by with sticking a 16hp clone in it for not much cost. I believe the honda 24 is one of the cheaper (less expensive) vtwin engines so the replace cost won't be as high as it would say buying the whole kit. last I remember they were around a $1000 give or take. once they have a hole blown through them they're not much account. maybe the heads are still good....maybe.
