So. . .
1. Upgrade the F&R switch and the solenoid. (What replacements would you recommend?)
2. Make sure there are at least 4 gauge leads to the F&R and the motor.
3. Check all cells with hydrometer.

That sounds like a good plan, check all cells with a needle type (not floating balls) hydrometer and then inspect cables and go from there. Maybe change rear end fluid to 10-30 synthetic oil for lifetime lubrication and lowest resistance. Some people mistakenly put gear oil in them and that slows you down.

After checking the all the cells with a hydrometer, I found several that were in the red portion of the hydrometer. I would guess that would be the biggest part of my cart's sluggishness. What are your feelings about re-conditioned batteries?

I have used reconditioned batteries.... that is pretty loosely used term.... I would rather put my money in a new set.

First check all connections. After making sure you have good power from the batteries. If you still have a problem you likely have a controller problem. I would look there next. I found the checking procedures on here for a 93 marathon.Cart ran fine in reverse. only 23 volts to motor in forward. No power and forget it on the slightest hill. slow take off and less than normal speed on flat ground were the symtoms for mine.I know a source in indiana that does nothing but rebuild controllers for everything electric.Dont pay 4or500 for a controller.they rebuilt mine for the 93 for $110 plus shipping 9.50 each way. They do them the day they recieve them.1 yr warranty.Let me know if you need their address after the testing. Hope this helps, Rick
