Question Range problems

Although it hasn't left me in the woods yet, I think I have issues with my buggie.

Brand new Trojan Pacer batteries, motor, controller, etc are all stock 36v. 4" EZGO lift, 22" swamp fox tires, rear flip seat.

I was told that on flat level ground I should get about 18-20 miles range. At the camp on flat dirt roads with some mud and a few ditches thrown in, by the time I get done with 3-4 miles I'm down to 60-70% charge. I have checked all connections - they're tight. All of the batteries test good.

What am I missing?

When I upgrade to 48v with the PQ rewind and the 480 amp Logisystems controller, what is this going to do to my range?

Any new battery is not yet 100% until properly broken-in and secondly, what is the Amp Hour rating of your Pacer batteries?

Do you plan on adding 2 more 6v in the bagwell for q total of 8/6v? The extra batteries will add about 25% to your amperage reserve Plus when you go up in voltage you actually use less amperage.

Right now your stock set up may be struggling with the big tires and terrain. That draws a maximum amount of juice.

105 AH @ 75 amp - looks to be the same as the T-605's.

They have been broken in fairly well. I ran it down to about 80% and recharged about 10-12 times and did the same at 70%.

I'll be ordering the controller, FNR and solenoid from you as soon as the funds break free. :D

If you add the extra batteries and go up in voltage it will help significantly with the range issue.

Trojan Pacer? Are these 12volt batteries?

No, 6V. Looks to be the same as the T-605's just a different name.

That battery has a little less amperage storage capacity than some of the other 6v out there. You would definitely benefit from packing 2 more into the bagwell and running your 36v motor on 48v. The Components we talked about cost the same for 48v. You just need a way to charge the extra 2 batteries or a 48v charger

Plan for the time being is one battery on drivers side under the seat, one in bagwell and using my 36v charger in addition to a 12v charger until the additional funds for a 48v charger break loose.

That's how I did mine a while back. Worked great, but the wife was intimidated by the charger hookups. When I found a used 48v Lestermatic, I bought it and finished the job right.
