New Tires/Wheels - Need some input!
I got new tires and wheels from one of our site sponsors - (I don't mind say'n) - East Coast Custom Golf Carts in WV. Cudo's Guys!
They are the 22x10-10 6Ply Swamp Fox Tire with 10x7 Black Steel Wagon Wheel 3+4 Offset. Man, I LOVE em!! I have 5 1/2" lift on the back and 4 1/2" lift on the front. The fronts clear fine, but the backs are rubbing the mud flaps from the wheelwell (and no one is on the back yet!). My question is, would you guys re-build the lift and add a couple of inches front and rear, or would you cut the mud flap off? Ground to the bottom main rail of the carts already at 14". I'm not sure if I want to get any higher, but then again, I don't really want to cut it! Lift it or cut it? |

I would take it off and try to move the well/flap back. Mine is close but ok, it rubbed in front of the tire I cut the well and pulled it back with zipties, also cut off the rocker some...on a G9. Most of them you have to move the front arms forward to clear yours look close there. They look good on there though!

Re: New Tires/Wheels - Need some input!
My G9 the frame the bumper mounts to is right there I can't tell on yours. I was thinking of going to 25s and that is why they don't do 25s on G9s lol. I'll have to cut that whole frame/bumper mount off to clear them as well as move the cradle back. One thing I don't want is a cart with a foot lift, could not ride trails that way it would tip over. But I'll worry about that after the clone is purring under the hood.

Re: New Tires/Wheels - Need some input!
We actually got 25s on my buddys G14 with a 6" lift by doing the same thing. Granted we did other mods as well but in this area we cut the frame back and welded in a 12ga patch/support panel.
Plus it sealed it all back up as well. When the time came for the plastic fenderwell we took an industrial heat gun and heated the center back portion above and behind the axle and gingerly stretched it back. It was extra work but we didn't want his cart 3' off the ground! |

Depending on your compressed clearance in the front of the rear fenderwell,
See if you could remove the front snubber bolt and see if you have room to redrill the cradle hole and move the whole cradle/swingarm forward, say 1" or so? just a thought while I was looking at pictures. |

These are all great idea's! I think I like the heating and bending back idea the best so far! Well, got a week of vacation to think about it!

Re: New Tires/Wheels - Need some input!
Wow nice job Crash, that is what I will have to do. My floor is 18" now with 22s I can ride the trails pretty hard, enough to slide the front tires on hardpack while turning. I know any higher and that would not be the case, going to make larger wheel wells instead. Nice work you have there. I don't know if I want to put the bumper back on or leave it ezgo style- just in the center.

Re: New Tires/Wheels - Need some input!
Sometimes the car had been hit so hard in the rearend that the main frame tubes got bent in toward the tires. I use to take the bolts out of the bagwell and wrap a chain around the round tube and the cross member (one side at a time) and hook it to the fork lift or other unmovable object....then "NAIL IT". Stopped doing it...hurt my neck/back and teeth Tried a hydrolic jacking system, but just no strong places to support it. 22" tires with a 5 1/2" lift should have no rubbing unless you have people/cargo on your rear faceing seat. I like Crashes fix, but you need to be a good fabber to do that. Good luck on your fix.

Crash, by any chance do you have pics showing the plastic wheelhouse after you re-shaped and re-attached it? I am considering the same modification on my G-22 with 23" tall tires. A pic would save me a little head scratching on how to approach it.
