Why is it bogging? Can torque springs overwhelm those stock carts?

If the spring has tangs((the ends sticking out to go in holes))
you assemble the clutch with some twist of the spring.
There are some good YouTube videos on how to do it.

Weird thing.... The stok spring had tangs the new torque spring has none. Could this cause my belt getting hot issue? Maybe the clutch is heating up and the engine is fine.

Some of the aftermarket ones are much stronger and don't have tangs. If it bogs you very likely have an issue with the primary clutch on engine, or maybe engine running very poorly. If the clutch does not shift right it kills engine power. Worn out belts don't work well either. If the belt is 1" wide or less its junk, for a lifted cart it should be over 1". New is 1 3/16" wide, for old worn clutches I'd run a 1 1/4 wide. Do your clutches act like this, these are stock G9:

I just pulled the torque spring and reinstalled the stock one just to see if it might be the culprit. Nothing changed, my clutches appear to be working correctly but after running the cart at a high or low speed the sheave closest to the engine on the drive clutch is so hot I cannot put my hand on it. I can only conclude that this heat is directly from the engine as all the other clutch components are much cooler. The cart doesn't seem to have much power, I realize it is a small motor, but my gut feeling is that it should have more. I pulled the spark plug and noticed the ground electrode had some grey, (maybe white) dust on it. If that is a sign of a lean motor, what would cause this, I think my seals are good and the carb is fixed jet. I'm desperate for ideas. My fried (his cart) is getting impatient.
Thanks

Are you sure the belt is not slipping? Does the engine rev a lot at higher speeds? (not top speed, but faster) If there is something wrong with the weights it can still go but not have power or shift right, can slip the belt, etc. My cart did that when one weight broke.

I'm pretty sure that hole should have a BB in and be plugged off. Your bowl vent would not be open to atmosphere like that.

The engine does not rev high, I suspected the belt might be slipping, but it doesn't heat up both sides, just the side by the engine. Can someone run their engine and hit the valve cover with an temperature gun and let me know what normal is. Someone mentioned that 220 isn't too hot, but I think I disagree.

Also can you check your carbs to see if there in fact should be a bb plugging that vent hole to the bowl?
Thanks

Also- I do not have a stock drive clutch- It is a Comet with the weighted Nylon Pucks Brand New.
