Default Sheave Cap

I don't know if this is the right place to post this but, I figure you guys are the g9 experts! I'm trying to get the sheave cap off so I can add some grease but, whoever worked on this cart before broke off a couple of those soft metal Phillips head screws and before I get the vise grips out and booger up some more I thought I better check and see if there's a better way?
Thanks
JP

If you can get the screws out just replace them with a socket head cap screw. As for greasing the sheave there should be a zerk fitting on there but make sure you only give it one or two pumps or you'll end up with a mess to clean up.

I've got to get the cover off since my grease gun nozzle won't fit the zerk
fitting, the edge of the cover butts right up against the side of the zerk. I hate to do it but, I may have to drill out the screws in the cover and hope I don't ruin the threads. Thanks

With the help of some heat, pb blaster and some gentle tapping I've got the screws loose enough to back out, I'll see if I can track down some replacement
screws tomorrow. Anybody know what size those are?
Thanks

I'm sure metric something, maybe in the 4-6mm range? The tool to use is a screw impact. You hit it with a hammer, often used on dirt bikes. They are not that expensive. Can also be used on smaller sockets to break things loose, very handy tool. Most have a socket drive and screw bit adapters.

Here is a cheaper one: http://www.harborfreight.com/impact-...ase-37530.html

A 3lb hammer really works well with these.

Take one of good screws to ACE hardware, they have them. Just use "never seize" on the threads when reinstall and that shouldn't happen again.

thanks for the tip Mike. We don't have Ace
but, sounds like it's something that Auto Zone
or Napa should have.
