Ok, I am grabbing a beer and going to adjust the valve right now and change the vacuum line. Will report back later.

Thank you Scotty for bringing us back to one of the original suggestions. That's why I asked for a recap. Lol...... Please read the tech thread about valve adjustment and report back on how that goes. The valves are generally recommended to be adjusted once a year. And my next suggestion was going to be double checking fuel flow at the carb inlet and checking the pulse line at the pump. Good luck

Grab some starting fluid and next time it dies shoot a little in the carb to see if it tries to start. If so, fuel problem. If not, ignition

Ok valve adjustment did not work out so well. Got the valve cover off and found out that my feeler gauge only goes down to .006. Two of the valves I could force the .006 under. So I have to get another one that will go down to the .004 requirement.

I did replace the vacuum line to the fuel pump. Went for a ride and this time I ran a top watch app. 11:00 minutes they we died.

The place I am at (River Ranch, FL) is 30 minutes to get to town, nothing but cows and farms in between. So it may be a few days before I go and get another feeler gauge.

Thanks for everyone's input so far! Very exciting to find a forum that has active members.

If you force it under it may just opening the valve. When you get a .004, loosen the valve so it is sloppy and while tightening the valve slide the gauge around until you feel it restrict the movement. Then tighten the stop nut. Have you checked for air flow around the engine? Wondering if it blocked and causing it to overheat

Yes I have checked the air flow/filter and its area. The filter is fairly new, housing and all things connected to it was cleaned when I cleaned the carb.

Just to be clear I mean the air flow coming from the flywheel fan around the engine, not carburetor flow.

OK, no have not done that. I will, but based on the amount of time it ran yesterday, I dont think there is any kind of cooling issue.

One more thought. Make sure the pulse line from the fuel pump to the block is sloped down as in if it had fluid in it that it would flow back to the block..

, posssible overfull oil creeping up the fuel pump vaccum hose , is this cart lifted and if so are you going by the dipstick reading or the oil capacity ?
